There is not much time left before the start of our conference. In the previous two Announcements 1 and 2, we provided complete information about our conference, and from this page, you can go to the pages of previous announcements. (Announcement 1), (Announcement 2)
We would like to draw your attention to the news and additional new information about the conference.
To date, more than 100 participants have registered, including 18 plenary speakers. The conference programme is ready and the abstracts will be published before the conference.
Publication
We ask you also to prepare articles based on the conference materials in a timely manner. Articles on your reports we are planned to be published on our journal AzAJ (https://aaj.shao.az/), after going through the review process. Each article is assigned a DOI index, and the journal is available in the NASA ADS archive. Articles must be prepared in Latex format, for which you need to use the style files, presented in the folder “Sample”. This folder placed on the lower left corner of the page, in journal website https://aaj.shao.az/. We remind you that the deadline for submitting articles is November 15, 2024.
Traveling
We kindly remind you that since the land borders of Azerbaijan are closed for individuals, you can come to Baku only by plane. Arrival day is September 22, and departure day is September 27. For those, who is wishing to stay in Baku for a few extra days, please take care of your place of accommodation in advance. Please note that if you stay in Azerbaijan for more than 15 days, you need to register in the country’s migration service. From airport, you can take a bus or taxi for the transfer to hotels. Aero express bus depart from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Heydar Aliyev International Airport to Baku Railway (RW) Station (metro station “28 May”). Buses run 24 hours a day every 20 minutes. While traveling from the Airport to the Baku RW Station, the bus makes stops at the Surakhani Bridge and the Koroglu metro station. Travel time from the airport to the RW Station is 30 minutes. After arriving in the city center of Baku, you can take public transport to your accommodation. In Baku (Aero express, public transport and metro), you can purchase a reusable “BAKU CARD” card at the “BAKU CARD” terminals located near bus stops when exiting the terminals (outside) or download the “BakıKart” application from Play STORE. The card has an unlimited validity period. A group of travelers can use one card. You only need to load money onto your card using “BAKU CARD” terminals and enjoy it. The price for travel on a city bus and metro is 0.50 AZN and on Aero express 1.2 AZN.
The maximum cost of a taxi ride from the airport to your place of residence is minimum 10, maximum 20 AZN. At the airport, private taxis may charge you a large amount for travel, please, don't trust them. You can use “Bolt” or “Uber” application.
Venue
The conference sessions will be held in the Central Library of the Academy of Sciences, which is located at Huseyn Javid Avenue 129, near the Main Building of the Academy of Sciences (metro station Elmler Akademiyasi, shuttle buses № 18, 39, 3, 6, 10 etc.). The remaining meetings of the conference from September 25 to 26, 2024 will be held at the settlement Yu. Mammadaliev, Shamakhy district (in the ShAO).
On September 23, from 9:00 to 10:00, it is planned to register the visiting conference participants at the conference hall of Central Library. The conference starts at 10:00.
Registration fee and accommodation at the observatory
For registration fees, for accommodation at the observatory, for participation in the conference dinner and for excursions can be paid in cash separately at the Local Organizing Committee upon registration. All these items must be paid for in local currency. Therefore, we ask you to stock up on local currency in advance.Local currency
To purchase local currency on weekends, you can use ATMs, and on weekdays, exchange is also carried out at any bank branch. The exchange rate is nearly, 1 US dollar = 1.7 AZN (manat), 1 Euro = 2 AZN (manat). Baku is a very calm and safe city, but just in case, try to avoid exchanging currency with strangers.You can buy in the required amount of local currency, both at the airport and in the cities of Baku and Shamakhy. There is no currency exchange facility at the observatory and there are no ATMs. To avoid high exchange rates, we recommend buying currency in the city center of Baku.
Tranfer to Observatory
On 24th after lunch, the participants will transfer to the observatory and the following 2 days meetings will continue at the observatory.
The distance from Baku to the observatory is about 140 km; you will be brought to the observatory in a special bus. The journey will take at 2.5 hours. The route also passes through the regional center of the city of Shamakhi, where you can make a short stop.
After arriving at the observatory and settling in, on September 24 at 19:00, you will be invited to a tea table in the administrative building of the observatory. At 21:00, there will be a guided tour of the observatory (museum, telescopes).
The subsequent days of the meetings will be held in the conference hall of the observatory.
Conference dinner
The conference dinner will be held on September 25 after the sessions, at 19:00, in a separate restaurant. The dinner will be held in a free, friendly atmosphere, with music. We are sure that after a hard day at work you will have a good rest.
All other activities will take place according to the conference program. If a group of people wishing to participate in the announced regional excursions gathers, please contact the LOC individually regarding these issues.
After the conference, the participants will go to Baku for their further return to the country of arrival. If necessary, two buses ride are expected from the observatory to Baku. The first bus will leave immediately after the end of the conference, on the evening of September 26 at 18:00. For those wishing to travel to the city the next day, a second bus from the observatory will be organized at 07:00 on September 27.
